Libya's new unity government said on Tuesday that it wants warplanes and helicopters to fight Islamic State and other extremist groups. But it says international support for lifting a longstanding embargo on weapons sales is fundamental to the creation of a strong army. On Monday, the United States, Italy and other supporters of the new administration agreed to arm Libya’s UN-backed Government of National Accord to confront the threat from Islamic State.
